CLGO won first prize in 2013 Shang Teaching Award. After application, expert review, online public notification and working group approval, 705 programs won 2013 Shanghai Teaching Award, including 20 special prize, 178 first prize and 200 second prized. CLGO, after winning first prize in SJTU Teaching Award, was recommended to the higher level competition and succeeded.

The theme of CLGO was “to educate talents in an interdisciplinary, multi-level and comprehensive way”:

To educate both in engineering and management subjects. SJTU was first to provide double major (MBA and Master of Engineering) in China, the curriculum of which was tailored to the need of students, covering management, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering. These all helped students to optimize knowledge structure and promote competency. 2. To educate both in school and partner industry. SJTU-CLGO was supported by both multinational companies (Dell, Apple, Amazon, Esquel, etc.) and local companies (TISCO).  Those partner industries involved in CLGO strategy-making and enforcement and this partnership made a world leading platform for practice and network of manufacturing and operation.

To educate both in local and global environment. First, MIT review board, composed of professors from top universities and senior executives, would assess CLGO annually. CLGO governing board, composed of professors from SJTU (Antai College, School of Mechanical Engineering and School of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering) and representatives from partner industries, would supervise and guide CLGO. The two parts also cooperated in teacher training and MIT has helped to train 26 teachers for SJTU since 2006. For students, they had yearly visit and participated in manufacturing and operation program.
