2013 Autumn CLGO Governing Board Meeting was Held successfully

In the afternoon of October 16, Governing Board Meeting of CLGO was held in Antai College of Economics and Management. Members attended this meeting including Vice Dean Dong Ming of Antai College, Professor Xiong Zhenhua of Mechanic School, MIT LGO co-director Professor Georgia Perikas of Sloan Business School, MIT LGO co-director Professor David Simchi-Levi of MIT, Dr. Joshua Jacobs and CLGO senior consultant Jeff Shao, etc. Representatives from industry partners including Apple’s senior supervisor Rob York, HR manager Mario Yin and Asia senior manager Zod Mehr, Cisco’s senior operation supervisor Anne Seshu and test manager Wenhao Xiao, Dell’s global purchasing executive supervisor Charla Serbent, Esquel Group’s HR supervisor Edgar Tung and HR vice supervisor for China Kitty Yao, Honeywell’s HR manager Karen Wang, Nike’s operation supervisor Jason Chen, Novartis’ HR manager Rita Yang and UTC’s HR manager Wendy Chen and Cindy Yan were also present at the meeting. The governing board meeting was hosted by Esquel Group’s HR supervisor Edgar Tung.

First of all, governing board members visited the practical project exhibition presented by CLGO 2011 and 2012 students. They shared their recent practical projects (including Dragon Team project, internship project, US study tour and South China industry field trip) with board members in the form of poster boards and answered questions related to projects in details. All board members marveled at students’ rich practical activities.

Then, director Chen Xiaorong reported the recent progress of CLGO program including teaching, internship, employment and practical projects of Dragon Team and Lion Team. For the past two years, students’ satisfaction of teaching evaluation was on the rise. The employment of 2010 students was satisfactory and most of them worked in manufactory operation field, about half in industry partners. CLGO 2012 students have accomplished 26 Lion Team and Dragon Team projects, visited Google, Cisco, Apple and Intel and took MIT LGO courses in their summer US study tour, and made their field trip to South China industry including Esquel, Dell and TCL in early September.

Then, CLGO industry co-director Judson Graham introduced the progress of the relationship with CLGO industry partners. He reviewed key points in company communication of each period since last year including sorting out communication channel, industry partner CI meeting, sending CLGO newsletter, etc. He then gave suggestions about the model and strategy of recruiting industry partners. After that, Dr. Josh Jacobs introduced the recent progress of MIT LGO, including enrollment and employment situation. 

Representatives of SJTU, MIT and industry partners discussed heatedly about how to support the development of CLGO project, how to innovate, and how to continuously add value to industry partners at this meeting and they pointed out the direction for the future of CLGO program.
