The Class of 20 CLGO Students Successfully Completed the “China Tour” Corporate Visit

September 3 to September 7, 2018, the class-2017 CLGO students carried out the activities of the Southern visit of China's manufacturing industry. After five days of travel, the students visited five cities in Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Foshan, Dongguan and Guangzhou. They visited the world-renowned companies such as Esquel Group, Huawei, Tencent and CIMC, and were fortunate enough to visit the mysterious Huawei P20 smart manufacturing production line, Esquel Foshan world-class shirt full-process factory, CIMC vehicle Dongguan lighthouse factory. The entire visit combines knowledge and practice, and the students benefit a lot.

On September 3th, the class-2017 CLGO students came to their first stop for the southern visit - Hong Kong Esquel Group. Founded in 1978, Esquel Group is a vertically integrated cotton and apparel group and is currently the world's largest manufacturer and exporter of cotton shirts. As an important partner of the CLGO project, Esquel Group Human Resources Director Francis Chan firstly showed his welcome of the visits of CLGO students. Through the introduction, CLGO students have a certain understanding of the status quo and development of the textile industry, Esquel Group's corporate strategy, values, business scope, corporate culture, sustainable development, and industrial chain integration. At the same time, the students also deeply felt the strong corporate social responsibility of Esquel Group. On the afternoon of the same day, under the leadership of Esquel Group, the students visited PYE, a high-end brand under the Esquel Group. Located in the CBD area of Central Hong Kong, this store has a low-key luxury, not only has a classic Chinese style design, but also has avant-garde design that does not lose big names, but also has a comfortable upper body experience. Between the needles and the line, it shows the unique charm of Esquel's global brand.

On September 4th, the students visited China's top mobile phone manufacturing plant, Huawei P20 terminal mobile phone production line. From the initial PCB board SMT to mobile phone assembly, testing and packaging testing, the number of operators has decreased from 80 in 2013 to 19 now, and is expected to be further reduced to 15 this year. The introduction of a large number of automated equipment has made manufacturing "smart": traditional forklift trucks have become fully automated storage; the movement of materials and finished products has been completed by various AGV mobile trolleys; Huawei’s self-developed and designed Hummer automation project continuously upgrades the intelligence and performance of manufacturing. Here, the students saw the huge transformation of the manufacturing industry's transformation and upgrading of China's manufacturing industry.

On the morning of September 5th, the students visited Tencent's “Prime Road”, Tencent's corporate display gallery. Through the meticulous explanations of the interpreters and the advanced technology and novel display methods of Tencent, the students listened carefully, watched and experienced. Everyone has a detailed understanding of Tencent's development process and Tencent's product modules in social, artificial intelligence, cloud computing and entertainment.

On the afternoon of September 5th, after the end of Tencent's visit, the students came to CIMC headquarters, another important destination for this visit: CIMC Group, the full name of China International Marine Containers (Group) Co., Ltd., which is the world's leading supplier of logistics equipment and energy equipment. In terms of market share, CIMC has more than 10 products that have maintained the number one position in the world for many years. The North American market contributed 50% of sales to CIMC. Zhao Yang, the human resources manager, first introduced the development process of CIMC to the students and the globalization management of CIMC. As one of the largest markets in CIMC, North America, Mr. Shi Wen, the international marketing director of CIMC, explained the views and countermeasures of CIMC on Sino-US trade friction through the personal experience of the company, and brought a precious Chinese and American to the students. Trade case class. Then, the CEO of CIMC Vehicles and the outstanding alumni of Jiao Tong University, Li Guiping, took the time to exchange and guide the CLGO students. At the same time, there are other leaders of CIMC Human Resources, which respectively look into how students choose their career development path and the cooperation between CIMC and CLGO. With the expectation of visiting the CIMC Lighthouse Factory and thinking about the future, the students completed the visit on the same day.

On September 6th, the class-2017 CLGO students and teachers came to the Esquel garment factory in Foshan. Under the introduction of several production leaders, they visited the weaving, dyeing, cutting, sewing and packaging -- shirt whole process production line. Let everyone have a more intuitive and profound understanding of the traditional industry of garment processing. After the factory visit, all the students and the director of HR of the Esquel Group, Sun Dayong, chatted about the responsibility of young talents and the career development concept of Esquel after graduation.

On September 7th, the visit group arrived at the last stop of the Southern visit - CIMC Vehicle Dongguan Lighthouse Factory. The CIMC Lighthouse Factory is the most advanced semi-trailer production plant in the country and the world. In terms of manufacturing process, the main welding process is fully automated, powder coating, environmentally friendly plating technology and other technologies. The production indicators are much higher than similar production. The factory has a capacity of 3,000 units / month. Mainly meet the needs of foreign trade orders in the United States, Europe, and Japan. In addition to seeing the production line with a large system, the students also actively interacted with the factory leaders and discussed in depth the issues related to process production.

The five-day Chinese manufacturing southern visit ended, but the global operational leaders of class-2017 CLGO students are still on the road. This trip to the south is well-organized and the content is rich and full. The students not only have a deeper understanding of the excellent enterprises and cultures in the South, but also have a close contact with the cooperative enterprises and the alumni of Jiao Tong University. Most importantly, they have a clearer understanding of the future choice and development direction.
