2018 class CLGO students successfully completed the trip to the south

On September 1, 2019, CLGO18 class southern enterprise visit tour was officially opened. This trip to the south spanned three major cities of Guangdong province: Guangzhou -- Foshan - Shenzhen. The visited enterprises include Guangqi Toyota Automobile (GAC-Toyota), CVTE, Esquel Group, and China International Marine Containers Group (CIMC). Through the field visits of excellent enterprises, to learn advanced experience in operation and management, to expand the vision, to deepen the learning content, the unity of knowledge and practice.

In the morning on September 2, CLGO18 class students came to GAC-Toyota. In this visit, the students not only learned the knowledge of GAC-Toyota in automobile production technology as a model plant for Toyota globally, but also realized the people-oriented corporate culture of GAC-Toyota. The visit schedule of Toyota was mainly divided into two parts: general assembly shop and environmental protection theme pavilion.

The general assembly shop is the final major process of the five major automobile manufacturing processes (stamping, welding, coating, forming and general assembly), is responsible for the assembly of parts and components. By using the sophisticated parts sorting system (SPS mode), the general assembly shop is separating the parts area and assembly area, making the production line simple and at the same time, introducing the advanced Anton system to realize the automatic production. In the general assembly shop, the students were thinking of what they had learned in the lean course, such as “Andon”, “Kanban”, “Fool-Proof”, “Automation” and etc. GAC-Toyota introduced the Toyota lean production model since the establishment of the factory, effectively avoids the outflow of defective products under the standardized operation process.

Built in April 2013, the environmental protection theme pavilion of Toyota is the first exhibition hall themed with environmental protection in the industry. Covering an area of 550 square meters, the pavilion displays the advanced environmental protection technology and equipment used by GAC-Toyota, and the company has an environmental protection interactive experience area for guests to experience the environmental protection of GAC-Toyota. Through the visit to the theme pavilion of environmental protection package, the students gained more admiration for GAC-Toyota. The enterprise is emphasizes in high quality and weight, at the same time, the company also takes environmental protection as its own responsibility and uses the advanced environmental protection technology and equipment to reduce pollution to the minimum. What the students saw was the social responsibility of an excellent manufacturing enterprise.

CVTE, Guangzhou, September 2

On the afternoon of September 2, the group of students came to Guangzhou CVTE located in Guangzhou science city. As a fast-growing high-tech enterprise, the company has grown from a few employees at the beginning of its establishment to nearly 5,000 employees today, with an annual turnover of over 10 billion Yuan. All the students were curious and eager to find out the secret.

At present, CVTE has widely arranged the industry in the parts unit business. In the future education enterprise service intelligent hardware, artificial intelligence, health care and other fields, the students visited the exhibition hall of the second industrial park to see the real products, which not only aroused the students' interest, but also opened their eyes. In the following interactive session, the students asked questions actively. They were all curious about how CVTE developed from a start-up company to the heavyweight enterprise in the industry today. They also shared their feelings and experiences of visiting CVTE. Then the students ate in the staff canteen and experienced the working atmosphere of CVTE.

Through this visit, the students not only understand the entrepreneurial development process of CVTE, but also learn the advanced management concept of CVTE.

Esquel Group, September 3, Foshan

On September 3, CLGO18 class students were going by car to Foshan factory of Esquel Group. Esquel Group is the world leading vertically integrated cotton clothing manufacturers. The business of the company are involving cotton research, ginning cotton yarn, knitted woven, clothing manufacturing, accessories packaging and brand with direct selling. The business extends in eight countries around the world. It supplies more than 110 million pieces of shirts to famous brands every year.

This visit covered the whole process of the garment industry from raw materials to readymade garments, from the earliest spinning mill, fabric factory to the later garment factory, clothing accessories and packaging factory, so that the students can truly understand and learn how cotton becomes a shirt step by step. Moreover, Esquel also has its own power plant and sewage treatment plant in Foshan. It has made every effort to build a modern and environmentally friendly plant that saves water and electricity and emits less pollution. During 2005 to 2018, the single consumption of water and energy produced by Esquel worldwide was decreased by 67% and 49% respectively.

The one-day visit was soon coming to the end, and the students were excited that Esquel actually can make the traditional textile printing and dyeing industry so clean and environmentally friendly, which is worthy of learning and admiration.

China International Marine Containers Co., Ltd (CIMC), September 5, Shenzhen

On September 5, CLGO students came to the last stop of this southern trip. China International Marine Containers (Group) Co., Ltd (CIMC), located in Shekou, Shenzhen. The company is the world leading supplier of logistics equipment and energy equipment. Through the introduction of staff, the students learned the eight modules business of CIMC: container, road transportation, energy, chemical and food equipment, ocean engineering, airport equipment, logistics service, financial service and industrial development. Through the explanation, the students had a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of CIMC.

In the following share of two themes, Mao Junhao, the senior manager of global business development department, who is also a senior of CLGO16 class, shared with the students the global market development of CIMC vehicles and his experience and perception since he joined CIMC. Then, the students also learned about the global supply chain business of CIMC vehicles through the sharing of manager You Zhi. Through the transformation and upgrading, CIMC vehicle deepens the global supply chain, on a global scale, optimizes the supply chain coordination, in the local area, and changes the mode of centralized purchasing, gives full play to the advantages of the enterprise. The share of supply chain was impressive. After share, the students actively shared their insights. Finally, Tan Yuhui, the recruitment training manager of CIMC ENRIC, introduced the main business of CIMC ENRIC to the students to and the” one ladder two lines” talent cultivation system, shared the talent training “blue plan” and welcomed the students to join the CIMC ENRIC.

The one-week visit to enterprises in southern China was very short, but very wonderful. Through the visit to enterprises, the students not only had a deeper understanding of China manufacturing industry, but also had closer contact with cooperative enterprises. Moreover, they combined what they had learned in the course with the practical application, and gained a new understanding.
