Talking about Study and Expressing the Love of Our Alma Mater — Homecoming Day Event of SJTU-ACEM MBA 1998 & 2008 Students for Their 10th Anniversary of Graduation

We always cherish the day with our classmates the most and memory the unforgettable time we study together, even we are old.  On May 16, 2021, with the topic of "Talking about Study and Expressing the Love of Our Alma Mater", the Homecoming Day Event of SJTU-ACEM MBA 1998 & 2008 students for their 10th & 20th anniversary of graduation was grandly held in  Antai College of Economics and Management, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU-ACEM). Nearly 300 MBA alumni returned to the school they've been long apart to recall their study life, express their deep love to each other and talk about their recent status and achievements.

The Homecoming Day was jointly organized by SJTU-ACEM MBA Center and the Alumni and Development Liaison Office, and many souvenirs such as conference manuals, commemorative school badges, stamps and commemorative clothes were prepared for the alumni participating in the event.

Dean Chen Fangruo and Party Secretary Jiang Wenning of SJTU-ACEM delivered welcome speeches to the alumni respectively. As an alumnus, Dean Chen reviewed the development history of SJTU-ACEM, introduced ACEM's outstanding achievements in discipline construction, and stressed ACEM's development strategy of "cross-boundary integration of knowledge and practice", looking forward to the contribution and support of alumni for the future development of the College. Secretary Jiang introduced the College's development and changes in the past ten years and placed ardent expectations on the future development of the College with the support of the alumni.

Liu Shaoxuan, Deputy Dean, expressed his warm welcome as the head of the MBA program to the alumni at first and then presented in detail the achievements made by the College in academic research, talent training, alumni relations and industry community, etc. He also highlighted the outstanding contributions made by Antai people in fighting the epidemic. ACEM has been the leader in the major of business administration in China, ranking first in China's local business schools for many years, and has twice been rated as the top business school in the Asia-Pacific region by the Financial Times. Mr. Liu extended a sincere invitation to all the alumni with an expectation that everyone would actively participate in the industry community class activities created by the College to make concerted efforts with full cooperation for our brilliant future.

The following outstanding alumni spoke as representatives and shared their development experiences after graduating from ACEM: Lu Dayin, Chairman of Shanghai Dongzheng Future Co., Ltd., and Lv Sizhong, General Manager of Shandong Hi-speed Company Limited, from Class 1988; Zhan Quan, partner of Shanghai Zeal Capital Co., Ltd., Zhao Liuqin, General Manager of TR Optical Mfg Co., Ltd., and He Junjian, General Manager of Shanghai SKSHU Waterproof Technology Co., Ltd.

Mr. Lu Dayin recalled his study life at Jiaotong University, introduced his working experience in the securities field as well as the development of the industry, and expressed his gratitude for the changes brought to him by Jiao Tong University and our MBA program. Mr. Lv Sizhong expressed his gratitude to his alma mater and mentors and his nostalgia for the time when he was a fellow student. He hoped that there would be more alumni activities in the future and that Antai would be developed as a top business school worldwide.

Mr. Zhan Quan introduced his struggles after graduation and said that he would always remember the motto of “when you drink water, never shall you forget its source; love your motherland and bring honor to your alma mater”.; Ms. Zhao Liuqin said that the achievements of alumni can not be separated from the cultivation of alma mater, and wished her alma mater to a higher level; Mr. He Junjian shared his career development, expressed his memory and gratitude to his alma mater, which aroused the resonance of alumni.

With the words "I miss you", everyone once again fell into the memory of the days decades ago. When ACEM Professor Mr. Ren Rongming and Professor Mr. Chen Jixiang spoke as teachers' representatives, the scene that they had lessons for the alumni once seemed to be vivid. The professors were even more gratified by the alumni's spirit of riding the waves and at that moment, they sincerely wished the alumni could have an even better future.

Since its establishment in 1994, the MBA program of ACEM has trained over 10,000 talents for the country and numerous elites have started a new chapter of their lives from here. Other alumni invited to the Event, including Wang Ningyu, Chairman of Jiangsu Apon Medical Technology Co.,Ltd., Zhou Jianhui, President of Red Avenue New Materials Group Co., Ltd., Chen Jianmin, General Manager of Asia-Pacific of Emerson Trading (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., Zhu Ning, partner of Alliance PKU Management Consultants Ltd., also shared and talked about their post-MBA life together with the guests.

In the following session, Wang Xiaowei, Director of MBA Center, Chen Jianke, Director of Marketing Development Office and Executive Deputy Director of MBA Center, and Huang Shujian, Director of Alumni and Development Liaison Office of the College, respectively gave a detailed introduction of MBA program, "Zhixing Antai" interactive platform and alumni affair administration of the College respectively. They encouraged alumni to constantly concern about the development of their alma mater.

The MBA program of Jiao Tong University was ranked 37th in the FT Global MBA Ranking in 2020, and the employment rate has been 100% for seven consecutive years, while in the Forth China University Subject Rankings and the First University Professional-degree Rankings organized by the Ministry of Education, both the subject of business management (first-level discipline) and MBA of Shanghai Jiao Tong University were ranked A+. In terms of market operation, the College promotes the integration of conference resources and course information by means of the "Zhixin Antai" mini-program. It also supports the insight into industry trends and deepens industry practice with the combination of industry research institutes and industry community classes to improve the quality of talent training, and practice strategy of "cross-boundary integration of knowledge and practice". In terms of alumni administration, since its establishment in 1918, the College has more than 40,000 alumni all over the world and has developed special alumni activities such as Antai Alumni New Year Concert, SJTU-ACEM Regional Brand Forum as well as Annual Alumni and Alumni Organization Awards. At the same time, the Antai Alumni House is officially opened, and alumni are warmly welcomed to come back often.

After the conference, Professor Pan Yingli of ACEM took the "Development Trend and Investment Opportunities of the 14th Five-year Plan" as the theme, bringing the alumni a class after an absence of 10 years. In the classroom, the alumni listened carefully, thought positively and engaged in lively discussions. In such a scene, it seems the only thing changed is time, but not the students' aspiration to the class and knowledge.

After reliving the class, a rap session started among alumni at all levels and classes who had not seen each other for a long time began. They reviewed the lessons they had taken together, the ball games they had played, the competitions they had participated in, and their ups and downs and successes of the decade. The alumni sat around the table without any sense of alienation and distance, even they had been long apart. The only thing left was the joy of reunion like a first meeting and everyone had a good talk in such a harmonious and warm atmosphere.

Talking about study and expressing the love of our alma mater — the Homecoming Day Event of SJTU-ACEM MBA 1998 & 2008 students for their 10th anniversary of graduation was successfully concluded following the ending of the class meeting. The Alumni gathered at Jiao Tong University to recall the past, talk about their youthfulness and look forward to the future. That is a period of time bearing countless young dreams, and also a picture engraved with the sincere affection of each other.

It is such a short time of gathering that we are reluctant to say goodbye. The friendship of classmates is refined by years, which makes it heavy and pure. Alma mater is the backing of alumni to spread their wings and fly high. It is also always the harbor for returning from a long voyage to rest their spirit. The College embraces every MBA student with an open attitude, appreciates those who have been concerned about and supporting the development of the College for a long time, and hopes that they will continue to pay attention to and give suggestions for the development of the College. Likewise, the College has always expected and believes that with the help of so many outstanding alumni, both Jiao Tong University and Antai could make further efforts to create a brilliant future.
