Look Back at Alma Mater with Deep Love & Take Responsibilities for the Country — 2021 CLGO Alumni Homecoming Day

On July 4, 2021, CLGO 2021 Alumni Homecoming Day was held at A301, Antai College of Economics and Management (ACEM), Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU). Nearly one hundred CLGO alumni returned to their alma mater to recall their student life, relive the deep feelings to the alma mater, talk freely about the recent industry development, and share their feelings about the College and the country. Liu Shaoxuan, Associate Dean of ACEM, Xiong Zhenhua, Party Secretary of CPC Branch of Student Innovation Center, SJTU, Luo Jun, Director of CLGO program, Wang Xiaoyu, Director of MBA Office, and faculties of CLGO program and practice instructors Zhang Wenguang, Chen Youping, Wang Hongbin, Ming Xinguo and Li Haigang, participated in the event.

First of all, Liu Shaoxuan, Associate Dean of ACEM, extended a warm welcome to all alumni. Dean Liu believes that according to the current economic situation, there are unprecedented opportunities in global operation. As ACEM has been committed to developing multi-disciplinary talents in the manufacturing field, CLGO alumni with interdisciplinary backgrounds will develop better in the current era. Then Dean Liu introduced the direction for College's latest reform and development prospects to the alumni and encouraged alumni to interact actively and frequently with the College. In closing, he affirmed and thanked the alumni for their feedback to the alma mater, and placed ardent expectations on the future development of the College with the support of alumni.

As the most distinctive international cooperation program, the sound interaction between CLGO program and MIT LGO program has nourished the stable development of the program for 14 years. Since Mr. Thomas Roemer, Executive Director of MIT LGO, and Mr. Joshua Jacobs, Director of LGO Operation and Cooperation were unable to participate in the event personally due to the pandemic, they recorded a video to welcome CLGO alumni back. They believed that this event was of great significance and hoped that the homecoming event would inspire the alumni to shine in all walks of life.

Xiong Zhenhua, Party Secretary of CPC Branch of the Student Innovation Center, SJTU, and the Academic Director of CLGO program, mentioned the three most impressive features of CLGO program of ACEM SJTU: the first is its cultural development; the second is the in-depth participation of enterprises; and the third is to give full play to students' self-management skills. Therefore, the program is an excellent platform for the continuous exchange and development of students.

Then Mr. Luo Jun, Director of CLGO program, introduced the recent trends of MBA and CLGO programs in detail. Mr. Luo introduced the development of the College and the program specifically from four aspects: the upgrading curriculum system and background, the three-layer corporate partnership framework, the diverse college-enterprise practice projects and the latest progress of the MEED program, and looked forward to making CLGO program more influential with the strong support of SJTU, the College and alumni.

In the faculties' message session, Zhang Wenguang, senior faculty of CLGO program from School of Mechanical Engineering, Ms. Wang Hongbin, founder of Shanghai Jieshitong Enterprise Management Consulting Co., Ltd., and Chen Youping from ACEM, gave speeches respectively. Zhang Wenguang said that ACEM's CLGO program is featured by its multi-integration, which may also be the way out for the current "involution" and "lying flat" phenomena. Ms. Wang Hongbin recalled her close bond with CLGO program of ACEM SJTU and said that it is a good time for alumni to make the most of their talents. She hoped that alumni would make use of their knowledge and thoughts learned from CLGO program to accurately seize the opportunity of the times. Chen Youping looked back on his 14 years of teaching for CLGO program from 2007 to 2021. He said that the scene of teaching the alumni was still vivid and he felt gratified that our alumni developed as the best in various industries.

To recollect the passionate years, Mr. Lu Jiasi, Procurement Manager of Apple Procurement and Operation Management (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., shared his recent situation as the representative of CLGO 2013 outstanding alumni from three levels: his study life and post-graduation development as well as his gratitude to the alma mater and teachers, and cherished the time they spent together. He hoped that the CLGO program would be developed better going forward. Chen Jialing, IT Project Manager of Esquel Group, reviewed his CLGO study time and his working experience at Esquel Group after graduation as the representative of CLGO 2015 outstanding alumni, saying that they would always remember the motto of “when you drink water, never shall you forget its source; love your motherland and bring honor to your alma mater”, and always contribute to the society and the motherland with patriotism.

At the end of the event, students, faculties and alumni had in-depth sharing, exchanges and discussions by industry at parallel sessions. The industry sharing with the theme of "Intelligent Manufacturing Industry" was held at Baotu A301, which was presided over by Mr. Ming Xinguo, faculty of CLGO program from School of Mechanical Engineering. Mr. Liu Yuandong, Senior Consultant of Intelligent Manufacturing Solutions, Honewell and the CLGO 2015 outstanding alumnus, and Mr. Deng Xuyao, Technical Project Manager of Apple and the CLGO 2015 outstanding alumnus, had discussions with the audience. Liu Yuandong noted the reality of China's "intelligent manufacturing" and put forward his unique views on the transformation path of digital factory. Deng Xuyao further supplemented the innovative development plan of intelligent manufacturing and the important role played by leaders. In the Q&A session, the two guests fully discussed the current situation, problems in development and the prospects of the intelligent manufacturing industry in a warm atmosphere.

The industry sharing with the theme of "Internet and Entrepreneurship" was conducted at Baotu A305, which was presided over by Mr. Li Haigang, Department of Information, Technology and Innovation, ACEM. Mr. Zhang Jian, Senior Supply Chain Expert of Alibaba MMC Business Unit and CLGO 2013 outstanding alumnus, Ms. Wang Shujuan, Assistant President and General Manager of Operation Center of Yestar and CLGO 2015 alumna, and Mr. Liu Zhenghui, Executive Director and General Manager of Xiaoqihui Educational Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd. and CLGO 2021 alumnus, expressed their views with alumni on "Internet +" and the difficulties encountered in start-ups and corresponding solutions. Zhang Jian shared the keywords since his employment in conjunction with his own experience. He called on everyone to adhere to original aspiration, make bold decisions and balance their lives and the entrepreneurship or working. Starting from her "atypical experience", Wang Shujuan shared with us her new insights in the process of starting a business and encouraged everyone not to give up on the road. Liu Zhenghui discussed how to innovate the corporate growth mode under the existing Internet background with the theme of "Future Technology, Intelligent Connection", and stressed the advantages brought by unique projects.

"Look Back at Alma Mater with Deep Love & Take Responsibilities for the Country" — 2021 CLGO Alumni Homecoming Day came to a successful conclusion after the lively discussion in industry sharing sessions. Time can take away youthfulness, but never take away the strong affection of our students for their alma mater. This event has not only promoted the friendship between alumni by expressing their feelings about the College and the country, but also provided a platform for them to exchange their understandings on the development of the industries. All alumni will stay focused and take solid actions to live up their potential. With the help of so many outstanding alumni, ACEM SJTU will definitely make further efforts to create a splendid future!
