Results of CLGO Outstanding Internship Program Selection was Announced; 17 Programs Instructed by Nearly 20 Professors from Four Colleges Won Awards

On December 8, 2021, the "China Leaders for Global Operations" (CLGO) Program Class 2019 Students I-Plus Outstanding Internship Program Award Conference was held at Room B305 of ACEM SJTU. Award-winning instructors from ACEM (Antai College of Economics and Management), ME (School of Mechanical Engineering), SEIEE (School of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering) and SUGLI (Sino-US Global Logistics Institute), Prof. Luo Jun, Director of CLGO program, Wang Xiaoyu, Director of MBA Office, and award-winning students attended the meeting.
First of all, Prof. Luo Jun, Director of CLGO program, introduced the overall situation of the 2021 I-Plus internship programs. In 2021, a total of 59 internship programs were collected and finally 34 students participated in the internship programs of 19 companies.
In order to improve the research and practice quality of I-Plus programs, and encourage college faculties to actively participate in the program instruction, outstanding internship programs were selected from four dimensions: corporate feedback, mid-term report, final report and project team scores and at last 2 programs won the first prize, 5 won the second prize and 10 won the third prize. Mr. Luo Jun expressed his gratitude to the instructors of internship programs for their careful guidance, and also affirmed the students' attitude of keep on working despite difficulties.
The second agenda of the conference was the award ceremony. Teachers and students of the 17 winning programs came on stage in turn to receive their awards. The award ceremony was grand and warm, with heartfelt congratulations and thanks to the leading teachers and students for their excellent performance in the internship!
After the award ceremony, the instructors discussed and summarized their experiences on the 2021 I-Plus internship programs, and put forward their expectations and suggestions for the I-Plus internship programs in 2022.

In order to improve students' understanding of the Chinese market and Chinese enterprises, the CLGO program cooperates with renowned domestic and overseas enterprises, and the I-Plus practice program is its most distinctive project. Students could get a deeper understanding of lean production and innovative management theories they learned through the I-Plus practice program. In the future, CLGO students and instructors will also continue the communication with enterprises to provide vitality for corporate operation and development in the long term.
Each CLGO student will have a 6-month internship at a corporate partner. The internship begins in March of the student's second academic year and runs through August. The objectives of the internship include:
● Provide a unique educational experience that broadens students’ knowledge of manufacturing and operations;
● Expose students to real manufacturing and operation issues, which can be addressed through teamwork and the integration of disciplines;
● Generate generic and specific engineering and management results via practical project and thesis;
● Support research activities that are critical to corporate partners and the CLGO Program;
● Strengthen collaborative relations between SJTU and corporate partners;
● Help companies achieve manufacturing and operations excellence.
The two teachers from SME/SIEEE/SUGLI and ACEM, SJTU, and the internship supervisor designated by the management of the corporate partner will act as instructors to jointly guide the students and provide academic and practical assistance during the internship. The internship program provides each student with the basis for their thesis writing.
