Each CLGO student will have a 6-month internship program at a corporate partner. The internship begins in March of the student's second academic year until August. The objectives of the internship include:
l Provide a unique educational experience that broadens students’ knowledge of manufacturing and operations;
l Expose students to real manufacturing and operation issues, which can be addressed only through teamwork and the integration of disciplines;
l Produce generic and specific engineering and management results via internship project and thesis;
l Support research activities that are critical to corporate partners and the CLGO program;
l Strengthen collaborative relations between SJTU and corporate partners;
l Help companies achieve manufacturing and operations excellence.
The two teachers from SME and ACEM, SJTU, and the internship instructor designated by the management of the corporate partner will act as instructors to jointly guide the students and provide academic and practical assistance during the internship. The internship program provides each student with the basis for their thesis writing.
